General Questions

What exactly does this device do?

This is a small network appliance that connects to your router and blocks ads across your entire home network. It also provides secure remote access using VPN. Once installed, every device on your network can benefit automatically.

Does this block ads on all devices?

Yes. Phones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs, gaming consoles, and most IoT devices connected to your network can benefit from network-level ad blocking. Some streaming services may still display ads depending on how they deliver content.

Is this hard to set up?

No. Plug the device into your router, power it on, and follow the included setup guide. Basic access to your router settings is required to change DNS settings.

Does this replace my router?

No. This device works alongside your existing router. It does not replace it.

Are there any monthly fees?

No. You purchase the device once. There are no required subscription fees for core functionality.

How do I get support for this product?

Support is limited to product setup and normal operation. We do not provide advanced home network consulting, custom router configuration, or enterprise networking services.

What happens if I reset my router?

If your router is reset to factory defaults, you may need to reconfigure DNS settings again. The device itself will continue operating normally.

Can I undo everything?

Yes. You can restore your router’s DNS settings to default at any time. Factory reset instructions for the device are also available.

Technical Questions

What hardware is used?

Each unit is built using a Raspberry Pi 4 (4GB RAM) with a high-endurance microSD card and housed in an all-aluminum passive cooling enclosure.

What software does it run?

The device runs a lightweight Linux operating system with Pi-hole for DNS-based ad blocking and WireGuard for secure VPN access. Monitoring tools may also be included.

Does this require port forwarding?

VPN functionality may require port forwarding depending on your router and network setup. Instructions are provided, but steps may vary by router model.

Can I customize block lists?

Yes. Advanced users can access the admin interface to modify DNS block lists, view logs, and configure filtering behavior.

Is my DNS data sent externally?

No. DNS filtering occurs locally on your device. You may configure your preferred upstream DNS provider if desired.

Is this a firewall?

No. This device provides DNS filtering and VPN functionality. It is not a full enterprise firewall, intrusion detection system, or security gateway.

What happens if the SD card fails?

Recovery instructions are provided. You can re-image the device using the recovery guide if necessary.

Can I SSH into the device?

Advanced users may have SSH access depending on configuration. Improper modifications may void support eligibility.
